Danish by nationality, Cecilie Nicoline Rasmussen was raised in Oman. Growing up in the midst of an unfamiliar language and cultural setting turned her into a careful observer of the tiny details of her surroundings, such as body language and forms of physical interaction underlying discourse. This, along with her love of browsing through family albums from back home, is how Rasmussen began her fascination with the possibilities of the photographic medium.
“Transmission Coefficient deals with the search of a notion of home through light, colour and deceptive perspectives. Although the work is site-specific it represents an everyman’s land, a place where anyone, regardless of cultural background, can find something to relate to, or feel comfortable looking at; whether it be colour, form, composition or a hidden figure.”
