Elise Boularan – APACHE PALACE

Fragments and Projections.

French photographer Elise Boularan deliberately uses a refined vocabulary and a language without any flourish, for images from the everyday life with a degree of abstraction, which erase all references points. Apache Palace  (Fragments and Projections), marked by ambiguity, is in the form of fragments, strata, combinations. It takes place in research, experiment and questioning. Boularan is attracted by the non-formulated, the unspeakable, the secret.

“How to make the hidden visible, through the image? How to put forward this invisible gesture ? This reflection is always in my work. These representations are like some clues of an enigma, and they conjugate or oppose some meanings.”

Elise Boularan works also for international & national press and collaborates with musicians and other artists, making the universe of songs match perfectly with her poetical vision. Her photographic work has a storytelling quality, realizing images loaded with ellipses and silences. This work does not shy away from the world, but intends to build an interpretation, where something deaf, undefinable is very present. Her preoccupations concern the human reality of our time, trying to reveal what can be secret about the individual.
