Aso Mohammadi is a photographer originally from Kurdistan, who now lives and works in Lausanne. He was nominated for the 2014 British Journal of Photography award for best emerging talent around the world, and has recently seen his work published in Harper’s Bazaar, Paper Mag and Fotografia Magazine amongst others.
Aso’s signature style brings together a tangled mosaic of patterns, body parts and unusual objects, recombined into imaginative compositions that trigger our sense of curiosity. With a touch of humour, his photography challenges the norms with which we have been taught to perceive our world: particularly ones which appeal to constructed notions of beauty or aesthetic hierarchy, and ones that overlook nuance and detail in favour of larger visual coherence.
