CASSANDRA TZORTZOGLOU FINDS ENCHANTMENT IN NATURAL PHENOMENA

Melbourne based photographer Cassandra Tzortzoglou describes her natural habitat as working on projects in the forest, or by the seaside. With a clear vision and a gentle approach, she explores narratives inspired by her relationship to nature, childhood memories, folklore tales and visions seen in meditation. These images are from her ongoing project, ‘Natural Phenomena’, which is inspired by her connection and interaction with nature.

‘Creating moments of stillness in nature, bodies are tipped into strangeness, lurching between the dimensions of this world and another. Moved by ideas of transparency, meditation, and delirium, an alien species emerges – the characters are absorbed by another dimension, morphing into something fictional.
Emphasizing moments of belonging, love, isolation, mystery and curiosity, this series reflects a journey of self-discovery and enchantment in familiar and unfamiliar landscapes.
