Melike Koçak is a young photographer from Turkey. Her work revolves around her struggle to grasp the complex social issues in her surroundings.
Koçak’s latest series, Mid Anatol, is an inquiry into the aesthetics and social dynamics of Çankırı, Ankara and Yozgat in Middle Anatolia, Turkey. The project is named Mid Anatol as an abbreviation the larger geographic area; the artist believes that these three cities reflects this region in a nutshell. “The reason I chose Middle Anatolia is because it sets the norms in all of Turkey regarding politics and culture.”
