FABIEN VILRUS CAPTURES SPONTANEOUS PORTRAITS ON 35 MM FILM
“I see photography as a medium that allows me to actively construct a scene rather than passively preserving memories. My process is mainly driven by emotions and then the rest generally follows. I like to keep a part unknown. Going somewhere with my models without knowing too much about the location, and then creating spontaneous visuals as we explore our surroundings. I believe that true beauty is not aesthetic. It’s manipulated by our own perception and many other unexplained facts. I guess it’s something that we just have to instinctively feel.”
Fabien Vilrus is a french, self-taught photographer who currently lives in London. After working in advertising, he discovered his passion for photography, shooting exclusively on 35mm. He captures colourful portraits, exploring the relationship between subjects and surroundings with a sense of escape.
